After a hectic week at work, me and my friends decided that we needed a quick getaway from our monotonous lives and what better place to unwind than the bountiful Western Ghats.

Located 55 kms away from Panjim, this hidden gem is a sight for sore eyes during the monsoons and winters too. We enjoyed our little road trip from Porvorim to Swapnagandha Resort which took us approximately one and a half hour. The roads to this resort are as beautiful as the destination.

We were welcomed with a delicious drink made of kokum juice and were escorted quickly to our beautiful room which had a stunning valley view. On our way to the room, our attendant showed us the infinity pool. One glance at this pool and you’d want to dive right into this beauty on the edge of the hill.

This resort offers many nature-based activities throughout the day to keep you busy. You can start your day with a steaming cup of coffee and the morning trek to the waterfall. Located almost 5 kms into the dense forest, this hidden waterfall was truly mesmerizing. The buffet breakfast is a delight, offering traditional Maharashtrian and Goan dishes and so is the lunch and dinner. All three meals are included in the price you pay, along with the treks to various places.

At noon, there is a pottery workshop where you can master the art of pot making, or skip that part, like I did and head straight to the infinity pool to unwind. In the evening, put on your sports shoes and go on a trek to the sunset point. If you’re lucky enough, you may spot some exotic species of birds and animals on your way up. The tour guides are also very knowledgeable and enlightened us about the different species of plants and animals found in this region. I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets from this point.

Trekking to the sunset point

After the sunset trek, a wildlife documentary is screened and then you can enjoy the sumptuous spread of local delicacies for dinner. We stayed here for one night, and it really helped us unwind and relax with nature all around us. I’m already planning on visiting this place again 😉

If you are a nature lover like me, Swapnagandha is definitely for you.
